This is the piece that got me back into painting again. After college, I went for years and did not do any traditional artwork at all. I was working full-time as a graphic artist and got very busy with work and life. Three years ago, my dad passed away and after the funeral my mom rented a lake house at Lake Martin for a week so we could all get away and get rid of some of the stress leading up to dad’s death. For whatever reason, I decided to take my watercolor stuff with me. This is the painting that resulted from that week.
To say it was therapeutic would be an understatement. I realized that week just how much I had missed painting. Whenever I look at this piece, I am reminded of the healing nature of art. I am also reminded of my father.
